Newtown Day at Yankee Stadium Sunday

The Yankees will commemorate “Newtown Day at Yankee Stadium” Sunday during their game against the Orioles that starts at 1:05 p.m. Approximately 4,000 Newtown residents will be guests of the Yankees and receive a food and beverage voucher courtesy of the Yankees and Legends Hospitality Management.

In a pregame ceremony, a list of Sandy Hook victims’ names will be recognized on the centerfield video board. The national anthem will be sung by the Newtown Youth Voices. The Sandy Hook Fire Department and Newtown Police Department will provide a joint color guard.

Pat Llodra, First Selectman, Town of Newtown, said of the event, “The Yankees organization has supported our community in several ways since the tragic events of Dec. 14. They have contributed financially through the Yankees Foundation, they honored our first responders on Opening Day, and Sunday they will put smiles on the faces of 4,000 fans from Newtown. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”
